REVIEWS:
of Manbites Dog Theater's production of
ACT A LADY
Delightful lunacy...Men in dresses have been a source of theatrical humor for centuries, but in "Act a Lady," playwright Jordan Harrison uses the device as a springboard for grander purposes. Manbites Dog Theater Company's production of this multilayered romp goes all out to help Harrison reach his heady goals.

Go for the acting. Derrick Ivey in particular is amazing in his three roles. Not only is he the mild-mannered Miles, but he morphs into the crazed Lady Romola — and into her erstwhile lover Valentino. His transformation is so complete in each that it is hard to remember that it is all the same actor.

Gloriously overwrought lines...a strong ensemble…the payoffs in the scenes "on-stage" are nothing less than delicious.
