What is the 20-Minute Grant?
A small grant with a quick application process!
How can the money be used?
To pay artists working on an upcoming Triangle-area theater project happening by June 30, 2024.
What’s the funding amount?
$500
How long does it take to apply?
20 minutes
No, really, how long?
20 minutes. If you really want to spend more time on it, you can. But you shouldn’t need to.
Who can apply?
Triangle-area theater companies or groups with an upcoming project happening before June 30, 2024. (501(c)(3) nonprofit status is not required.)
Will you accept more than one grant application for the same project–or from the same group?
No.
Can we apply if we pay some artists, but not others?
No.
Remind me: What can the grant funds be used for?
Paying money to artists working on the project.
Can the grant funds be used for [something that is not paying artists]?
Not this time.
Will you be offering larger project grants later this season? If so, should I wait to apply for one of those?
Don’t wait. This is a small experiment as we’re working to redefine our work and impact. We don’t know yet what our spring funding will look like, but applying now won’t disqualify you later.
Can a solo artist apply?
Yep!
Can a project be non-public–such as table reads of a script in development?
Yes, as long as participating artists will be paid.
How do I apply?

When is the deadline to apply again?
5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023
What are the reporting requirements?
We just ask that you send us three captioned photos of your artists at work. The captions will identify the artists and describe what they’re working on. Deadline for these is June 30, 2024.
